There was welcome news for Rafael Nadal fans as the 22-time Grand Slam winner has shared some snaps of his training ahead of his comeback.
Nadal has not played competitive tennis since he beat Taylor Fritz in the quarter-final at Wimbledon as he pulled out of his semi-final clash against Nick Kyrgios due to an abdominal injury.
However, the Spaniard is expected to return to action in just over a week as he has signed up for the Canadian Open with Tournament Director Eugene Lapierre confirming that he has booked a hotel and asked for a case of match balls to practice.
And he was presumably practicing with said balls during a training session at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca on Tuesday.
Five-time champion Nadal is set to be seeded third in Montreal behind world No 1 and defending champion Daniil Medvedev and 2017 champion Alexander Zverev, who remains touch and go for the event as he is still recovering from ankle surgery.
Nadal has also been included in the entry list for the ATP Masters 1000 Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, Ohio, which is likely to be his last tournament before the US Open gets underway on August 29 at Flushing Meadows.
