Bad Boy of Golf, John Daly Once Had the Highest Order of Appreciation for G.O.A.T. Tiger Woods: ‘Golf Needs Him Badly…’

Tiger Woods and John Daly have maintained a great relationship over the years. Both golfers share the highest amount of respect for each other. The stars have had each other’s support even during the worst phase of each golfer’s life. Today we look back at when John Daly shared some heartwarming comments about Tiger Woods following Tiger’s car accident in 2009.
Daly has always found himself amid troubles all his career. However, back in 2009, it wasn’t the two-time Major winner who was caught up in his struggles, instead, it was his good friend, Tiger Woods.
In 2009, Woods’ cheating allegations over his wife unfolded which resulted in the 15-time Major Champion receiving massive public scrutiny. However, many fans and fellow golfers sided with Tiger, including John Daly.
Woods struck a fire hydrant and then a tree as soon as he backed out of his driveway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol accident report. As the news broke out, the incident instantly caught everybody’s attention, with more people keenly interested in the reason behind the golfer’s car crash.

However, unlike others, Daly was least interested in learning what caused Tiger Woods’ late-night car accident. The two-time major champion insisted that he does not share the public’s interest in the circumstances surrounding Woods‘ accident outside his Florida home. Instead, he simply wanted the then World No. 1 to be healthy and back on the PGA Tour.
John Daly said, “I don’t really care what happened between Tiger and … whatever happened. I’m just glad he’s OK. We need him, probably more than anybody on the tour, to keep things going, the way the economy is.”
The 56-year-old further added how Woods is the biggest asset of the PGA Tour. Daly said, “Tiger’s the biggest asset the tour’s had in a long, long time. Whatever happened, as long as he’s OK that’s all that matters. Golf needs him badly … no doubt.”
And just like Daly had wished for his friend, Tiger Woods delivered. Despite facing so many difficulties in his personal and professional life, Tiger bounced back to reclaim his throne in the sport. Since the accident, Woods has gone on to have 11 professional wins including the 2019 Masters win. If only you have the mind of the great, you can bounce back like the greatest.
