Royal Family: Kate Middleton’s little known ex-boyfriend before Prince William who left her ‘completely heartbroken’

Royal Family relationships can sometimes look like a fairy tale- all those glamourous balls and events, romantic dates in far-flung corners of the world, an alpha man in a uniform, lots of money and a designer wardrobe – need I go on. For that reason, it’s difficult to imagine that they’ve ever struggled in love.
But for Kate Middleton, she learnt that just like the rest of us, you have to kiss a few frogs before you meet your prince. The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly was left heartbroken by her ex-boyfriend, a man called Harry Blakelock.
The pair are said to have dated during Kate’s time at Marlborough College. The relationship allegedly lasted a year, and according to Katie Nicholl’s biography of Kate, they “both agreed they wanted to make the relationship work,” despite the pressures of exams.
But she added: “Harry decided he’d take a gap year and travel around the world and decided to break up with her, leaving her “heartbroken”. Whilst Harry has largely remained out of the public sphere, he later married one of Kate’s school friends (Sarah Follett) and is now a partner at Lockton – the world’s largest independent insurance broker.
After healing from the heartache and meeting Prince William at university in 2001, the Duchess was quickly smitten once again. The royals shared sense of humour helped them click, as William explained during their engagement interview in 2009.
“She’s got a really naughty sense of humor, which really helps me because I’ve got a really dirty sense of humour so it was good fun, we had a really good laugh, and then things happened,” he said at the time
When they married in 2011, Kate even managed to put hard feelings aside with her ex-boyfriend and invited him to her wedding.
