He was bound to return at some point in order to continue his career. Despite doing something unacceptable, his actions are hardly a crime and all he got was a suspension from the Academy of Film & Arts. However, that doesn’t mean he isn’t allowed to keep making movies. Plus, many famous people took his side when he slapped Chris Rock on stage. One of those people is none other than Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mr. Undefeated himself.

During a press tour with Tyler Perry for his new Apple TV+ film, ‘Emancipation’. Smith revealed that the champ called him on the very next day after the incident. After that, he continued to call Will Smith for the next ten days in order to give him words of encouragement. But in his words, you can easily identify Floyd Mayweather and Will Smith have similar personalities. In a search for validation after such a low moment, Floyd’s words offered fresh approval in spite of what he did.

Here’s what Will Smith told Tyler Perry during a conversation about the ten days in which Floyd Mayweather never stopped calling him. This is what he said: “We’ve met each other, we’ve seen each other around. But we weren’t friends. The day after the Oscars, for ten days he called me every day. He was like: ‘Hey! You know you are the champ right? Are you good? You know you are the champ right? I want you to hear my voice say it.’ Every day he called me and it’s like, that’s my dude forever right there.”

The folks from The Breakfast Club were the ones that reported this revelation about Will Smith. Charlamagne Da God joked about it by saying Floyd Mayweather called Will Smith to give him a pointer on his slapping technique. It’s interesting to note that Smith confirmed he wasn’t friends with Floyd before the slap, meaning that Mayweather just wanted to send his words of support regardless of their friendship status. For now, the actor has been showing his new Oscar-bait movie to all the celebrities and movie stars he can.
